From April 3rd – 4th, 2025, undergraduate students Sofia de Hoffmann and Lexi Greenwood attended the AIAA Region II Student Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. “The Use of Regolith Simulant as a Material for Building Functional Sensors in Extreme Environments” was presented on Thursday afternoon with the intention of sharing the results of recent compression testing. Their research focused on the changes of Raman spectra during the compression testing of composites made from Digital light processed Lunar Highland simulant. This project provided insight on the stress-dependent relationship of spectral peaks of the material. Read the paper here.
